Shadow Boxes

All boxes are constructed of solid Appalachian Oak and can be stained in red oak or dark oak. Boxes may also be constructed in other types of wood such as Koa, Walnut, Mahogany, and others - Ask Kirk for his special prices. Please note that Mother Nature makes oak in various colors and even wood from the same board will have variations. This is natural and is one of wood's unique qualities making it extremely suitable for heirloom quality keepsakes.

All boxes have glass fronts to allow the best view of the items inside. You may find some shadow boxes that have Plexiglas or acrylic sheeting in the front. These types of plastic are soft and will soon scratch, look for glass in your shadowbox.

All boxes come ready for shelf display and a hanger is provided if you desire to hang the box.

All items mounted in shadow boxes are glued in with very strong craft glue. No hot glue is used as the glue will not hold with age. Some shadow boxes made with hot glue will have the items fall off in the first year!

U.S.A. Flag sizes and NSNs

• Flags mounted inside the box must measure 3 feet by 5 feet or less and made of nylon for 3 x 5 flags. Cotton is acceptable for smaller flags.
• All boxes with flags mounted on the outside of the box must not exceed 3 feet 6 inches x 6 feet 8 inches. 
• NSNs for flags:

• Your command can purchase these flags through a GSA contractor, you can purchase a flag flown over the Whitehouse from any State Representative pf the US Congress. Contact their local offices for purchase. If you are retiring the military will give you a flag as part of your retirement benefits. Congress intended these flags to flown outside your home and are larger in size than those for a shadow box.
• Note: Kirk WILL NOT cut a cut a flag to fit in your case. If you don't buy from Kirk make sure the person making your shadowbox does not cut your flag! This is the reason for the specified flag sizes.
